Third molars or wisdom teeth are the last teeth to form in the mouth. They usually appear in late adolescence or the early 20s. These four wisdom teeth are located at the back of the mouth, both top and bottom. Wisdom teeth are not for everyone. If they don’t crowd other teeth they can remain and chew food like any other molars.

Wisdom Teeth Infection and Pain

Wisdom teeth can become stuck in the jawbone if they don’t break the gum tissue. Wisdom teeth that are crooked can cause gum disease or cavities. Plaque and food can get into the space around wisdom teeth that are crooked or blocked by other teeth, or have a flap on top of them. This can cause gum disease, wisdom tooth infection, or cavities.
The X-ray is taken to determine if wisdom teeth are present and where they are located in the jawbone.

Is it necessary to remove wisdom teeth?

It is often a good idea to remove wisdom teeth that are trapped. The wisdom tooth can either be removed in the dentist’s or oral surgeon’s offices, depending on where it is located.
